Getting there

  • By plane:

Mwagusi Safari Camp is situated in the Ruaha Valley and is only 30km from Msembe – Ruaha’s park headquarters. Guests who fly into Ruaha will land at the Msembe airstrip where a Mwagusi vehicle, guide and driver will be waiting to collect you.

  • By car:

Ruaha National Park is situated approximately 120km from Iringa – which is the nearest main town. This stretch of road is a fairly good dirt track and heads from Iringa north-west to Ruaha. The track forks 70km from Iringa, its main branch leading through a string of local villages, the other called “The Never-ending Road” passes through a lonely stretch of Commiphora / Combretum woodland.

The town of Iringa is approximately 500km from Dar Es Salaam.

"This is my first sight of Ruaha, and already one question is running through my head. Why did I wait so long? There is a rawness here I have never seen before. It's the real thing, the unexpurgated Africa of long ago, and I can't wait to explore it."
